Official Opening of CPU's Investigation and Forensic Technology Building

The opening ceremony of Investigation and Forensic Technology Building was held on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at 11:00 AM. VIP guests participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Ministry of the Interior Permanent Secretary Qiu Chang-Yue, CPU President Tiao Chien-Sheng, world famous forensic expert Dr. Henry Lee, Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan, New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Hou Yu-Yi, Minister without Portfolio Xie Xiu-Neng, Construction and Planning Agency Director General Xu Wen-Long, and CPU Alumni Association President He Xuan-Xuan. They jointly cut the ribbon, celebrating this advancement in the field of domestic investigation and forensic technology.
President Tiao informed that CPU bears the responsibility of nurturing excellent law enforcement professionals. The opening of the Investigation and Forensic Technology Building integrates police trainings of crime investigation, information system, forensic science, traffic science, fire science, and marine science into this new facility with state-of-the-art equipment for preparing police personnel skilled in technology.
Encompassing 22,765 square meters, the Investigation and Forensic Technology Building is divided into Buildings A and B. In its four stories aboveground and two stories underground, Building A houses the College of Police Science and Technology, offices and laboratories, an international conference hall, and an examination preparation area. In addition to housing the Departments of Crime Investigation and Forensic Science, Building B, with its seven stories aboveground and two stories underground, contains laboratories related to physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, fire science, traffic science, and marine science.
In his address, Permanent Secretary Qiu Chang-Yue stated that advanced technology will change how crimes are committed in the Internet era. Police investigators must acquire the technological skills to combat crime, thereby enhancing the qualities to investigate crimes and convict criminals. Cultivating investigation and forensic science experts by increasing police officers’ overall technology and forensic skills is a critical duty of CPU.
CPU distinguished alumni and internationally renowned forensic science expert Dr. Henry Lee was particularly happy about the opening of the Investigation and Forensic Technology Building. He stated that, to meet the requirements of scientific crime investigation, he had recommended the former President Yan Shih-Hsi to establish the Department of Forensic Science and the Department of Information System, with excellent results. Dr. Lee expressed that society continues to progress and that the police must keep up with generations E and M. Intelligence is more important than labor. The greater the technological ability, the greater results of solving criminal cases. He expressed his bless to the opening of the Investigation and Forensic Technology Building would lead to even greater developments and success in CPU’s future.
